'Beaufort' replaces 'The Band's Visit' as Israel's entry to the Oscars

The Band's Visit has been ruled ineligible as Israel's entry for the Oscar's Foreign Language category as too much of the film is in English. Joseph Cedar's Beaufort is now tipped to replace it as Israel's bid.

Both films are showing as part of this year's festival.

The Band's Visit opens the festival at the West End Gala in Leicester Square on October 29th. It plays again on Saturday 3rd November at The Screen on the Hill. Click here for full synopsis and details

The Year My Parents Went on Vacation

The Year My Parents went on Vacation, one of the films showing in this year's festival, has been recently selected as the Brazilian entry for the upcoming Academy Awards.

Barak Heymann, one of the directors of 'Bridge Over the Wadi' will be attending both screenings at this year's festival. He will take part in the post screening discussion at SOAS on Tuesday 13 November, and a Q&A following the screening on Wednesday 14 November.

Director of 'The Neubacher Project' to attend screening
