Israel Cinema in the UK – The Challenges

This event is aimed at film professionals only

In recent years Israeli films have been celebrated worldwide, screening at prestigious film festivals, winning awards and receiving praise from critics and audiences alike.
Nevertheless, Israeli films are rarely on general release in the UK; UK-Israeli co-productions are almost unheard of, and local audiences are exposed to Israeli cinema almost solely through festival exhibition. To find out more about the Israeli film industry and the specific challenges it faces in the UK we are joined by some of its key figures: Katriel Schori, director of the Israel Film Fund; Marek Rozenbaum, a leading film producer and chairman of the Israeli Academy for Cinema and Television; independent film producer Amir Harel; Ruth Diskin, director of the Jerusalem based international marketing and distribution company, Ruth Diskin Films, and by Robin Grbich of Trinity,
the UK distributor of the Oscar nominated Israeli film, Beaufort.

Chaired by independent film producer and managing director of Met Films, Jonny Persey, the discussion is aimed at filmmakers and other film professionals who will join the Israeli Cinema Showcase speakers and guests for a lively event of presentations and exchange.
