Sidewalk

Director: Duki Dror
Israel 2007 57 mins
Language: Hebrew, Arabic and Turkish with English subtitles

A mesmerising examination of childhood seen through the journeys of seven children in Israel. From the affluent child to the poetic child, the one who never wants to let go of his mother’s hand to the responsible child, torn between duty and play.

This touching film takes us back to our own childhoods and to the child living in us to this day. With a rhythm that affords us a glimpse into the innocence and wonder of childhood, we accompany these children on their routine journeys, which are never mundane in the eyes of the onlooker.

Sidewalk is a precious documentation of the richness and diversity of Israeli society through the eyes and lives of its future generation.
