Volunteering for the UK Jewish Film Festival

Each year the UK Jewish Film Festival presents the best in Jewish content feature films, documentaries and shorts from around the world to UK audiences. As well as screening films we also invite filmmakers to engage with our audiences, as well as arranging post-screening panel discussions and hosting a whole variety of other special events. Our volunteers perform many tasks that are crucial to the running of this, the largest Jewish film festival in Europe. The experience of volunteering for the UK Jewish Film Festival is exciting , rewarding and challenging. We very much hope you will join us and get involved with our 11th anniversary festival.

What are the rewards?

a.  UKJFF Volunteer Pass - 4 free tickets of volunteer's choice (subject to availability) and stand-by free access to all other UKJFF films during the main festival.

What are we looking for volunteers to do?

a. Guest Liaison Assistants
During the festival we welcome many special guests including film directors, producers, academics and others. This role involves helping the festival producer in looking after guests during their stay. If you have a car this would be also be helpful. This requires you to commit to around 5 x 3 hour shifts on days to be agreed in advance of the festival.

b. West End Gala Team
Working on a variety of tasks both back-stage and front of house before, during and after the Opening Night West End Gala on Monday 29th October. You will be needed on site from 5pm until around 11:30pm. For this role you will receive a free gala film ticket and one free ticket to a festival film of your choice (subject to availability).

c. Audience Database Assistants
Asking audience members on a one-to-one basis to fill out UKJFF database information cards before each screening. This job will suit you if you're not shy. This requires you to commit to 6 shifts in the first or the second week of the festival. One shift comprises 1/2 hr before and after each screening.

d. Audience Award Assistants
Handing out voting cards to the audience in cinemas at Festival screenings, and encouraging people to fill them in and collecting them at the end of screenings. This job will suit you if you're not shy. This requires you to commit to 6 shifts in the first or the second week of the festival. One shift comprises the 1/2 hr before and after each screening.

Volunteers with Cars

Community Marketing Assistants
Working on the distribution of festival marketing materials in September and October. You will ideally need a car with a clean drivers licence. This requires you to commit to 3 full mornings distributing materials to an agreed list of targets. You will need to have the confidence to deal with a range of people to ensure that festival materials are prominently and appropriately displayed.

Volunteer for an Evening

Audience volunteers for one evening only. Free access to all the films that evening.

General information

All volunteers will be asked to wear a volunteer badge whilst working as volunteers in festival venues. The festival will cover all expenses reasonably incurred in carrying out volunteer work as long as these have been agreed with the festival in advance and all receipts are provided.
